It's likely that if you're a beginner hunter, you won't have a dog when you get out in the field for the first few hours. This is difficult, but not insurmountable.
If you don't have dogs, having a large number of hunters might be beneficial. Concentrate on tiny regions that are likely to contain birds. Thickets of cover, tiny stands of trees, or stretches of fencerow between farm fields are all wonderful places to start when establishing a wildlife habitat.
Spread out around 20 yards apart from the other hunters in your party and move in a straight line over these fields to avoid being seen. You want to flush birds that are within shot range, which is less than 40 yards (closer is better).
While birds might flush at any moment, it is especially important to be on the lookout when you near the end of a field and begin to approach natural impediments. Pheasants sometimes prefer to run rather than fly, and as a result, they will frequently flee to the far end of a field and then wait until you are close enough to flush them.
As a result, if you have enough hunters, try placing one of them near the end of the field to act as a barrier. This individual may also be able to obtain shots at birds that flee out of range of the walking hunters.
